Audit of Accounts

NOTICE IS HEREBY given that pursuant to Sections 15(2) and 16(1) of the Audit Commission Act 1998 and the Accounts and Audit Regulations (Amendment)(England) Regulations 2006:

1. From the 21st July, 2008, to the 15th August, 2008 between 9.30 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. (Monday to Friday) any person interested, on application to the Corporate Director for Financial Services, 9th Floor, The Council House, College Road, Doncaster, DN1 3QA, may inspect and make copies of the accounts of the above-named Council for the year ended 31st March, 2008, and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts relating thereto.

2. On the 18th August, 2008, at 10.00 a.m. at the Council House, College Road, Doncaster, the District Auditor, John Prentice, Littlemoor House, Littlemoor, Eckington, Sheffield, S21 4EF, at the request of the Local Government elector for the area to which the accounts relate will give the elector, or the elector’s representative, an opportunity to question him about the accounts, and any such elector or the elector’s representative, may attend before the Auditor and make objections:

   1. as to any matter in respect of which the Auditor could take action under Section 17 of the Audit Commission Act 1998 (namely an unlawful item of account).

   2. as to any other matter in respect of which the Auditor could make a report under Section 8 of the said Act.

No such objections may be made unless the Auditor has previously received written notice of the objection and the grounds on which it is made and a copy of that notice has been provided to the Corporate Director for Financial Services, Doncaster Council.
